FTI Consulting has announced the expansion of its Tax practice into the Saudi market, recruiting Wael Osman to lead the new offering in the kingdom.

A $3.5 billion consulting firm with employees across all corners of the globe, FTI Consulting first established its Tax practice in the Middle East at the start of 2023, when a launching team was setup in Dubai. The practice has since then grown significantly, and is now embarking on its next chapter with its expansion into the Saudi landscape.

Overseeing the KSA venture is Wael Osman, who has been appointed a Senior Managing Director in the Riyadh office. He brings more than 20 years of experience in tax advisory services for a diverse range of clients in Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East region, including in the oil & gas, defence, real estate and healthcare sectors.

Osman advises on international and domestic corporate tax matters, including structuring, indirect tax and the tax aspects of major mergers & acquisitions, restructurings and initial public offers. Osman has also led advisory engagements with clients on major projects.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Osman was a partner at PwC, where he spent fourteen years, latterly in its Tax practice in Riyadh. Earlier, he also worked for Big Four counterpart Deloitte.

“We are delighted to welcome Wael to our growing tax team in the Middle East,” said Nilesh Ashar, a Senior Managing Director and Head of the Middle East Tax Advisory practice at FTI Consulting. “Having built teams in his previous roles, Wael not only brings a wealth of leadership experience to FTI Consulting, but also considerable expertise navigating the Saudi Arabian tax landscape.”

Ashar added that the expansion of the firm’s offerings in Saudi Arabia reinforces the firm’s commitment to the Kingdom. In February 2024, FTI Consulting attained the Regional Headquarters License (RHQ) to better serve government and private sector clients in the world’s 19th largest economy.

Commenting on his appointment, Osman said, “It is great to join FTI Consulting’s tax team during this exciting phase of its growth. As demand for strategic and complex tax advice continues to grow across the Middle East, I look forward to contributing to the firm’s success by delivering exceptional support to our clients.”
