Kearney appoints Hani Tohme as Head of Sustainability for Middle East & Africa

Kearney has welcomed Hani Tohme to its team as Head of Sustainability for the Middle East and Africa region.
Hani Tohme brings about 18 years of consulting and professional services experience to the global strategy and management consulting firm. At Kearney, he now leads the Sustainability practice, which serves clients across sectors on topics spanning sustainability and ESG strategy, net zero planning, decarbonization of supply chain and operations, climate resilience, circularity, as well as sustainable mobility and food systems.
Tohme will oversee consultants across Kearney’s seven MENA offices – in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, Johannesburg, and Riyadh.
“I’m thrilled to taking on this role. This step marks a significant milestone in my personal mission to advance sustainability globally while continuing to focus on a region I deeply believe in: the GCC,” he said.
“In this new chapter, I aim to foster collaboration across the sustainability ecosystem – because real, scalable impact requires action from governments, businesses, communities, and individuals alike. To bridge the existing gaps, I will focus on building multi-stakeholder consortiums that bring together technical, financial, legal, academic, and non-profit expertise. Together, we can create practical, innovative, and lasting sustainability solutions that are still missing in today’s market.”
In his previous roles, Tohme worked with Roland Berger for nearly nine years, holding key positions including Co-Managing Director for the Middle East and Head of Sustainability in the MENA region. He also served at Arthur D. Little and at Schlumberger.
During his career, Tohme specialised in sustainability topics such as net zero, decarbonization, biodiversity and the circular economy. “My expertise lies in designing and implementing innovative, scalable solutions for governments and organizations, enabling them to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility while embedding sustainability into their core strategies. I place equal importance on the social aspects of sustainability, addressing localization, workforce balance, and mental health.”
Tohme is particularly renowned for his track record in the government utilities, waste management and water management sectors.
“I look forward to working closely with the Kearney team and creating impact together with my peers, clients, and partners to turn vision into action. A huge thank you to the Kearney leadership team for entrusting me with this role.”
Welcoming the leader to the firm, Mauricio Zuazua, Regional Chair for Kearney in the Middle East and Africa, stated: “Welcome on board, Hani! We are excited for your leadership in aligning economy and sustainability in the region and beyond. Can’t wait to work with you on this front.”
