EY’s Tax Conference in Egypt brings tax and finance leaders together in Cairo

EY has successfully hosted the 2025 edition of its Annual Tax Conference in Egypt, bringing together more than over 300 leaders from Egypt-based companies to discuss the evolving tax landscape and the latest trends and best practices.
Held in Cairo, the tax conference saw the participation of C-suite executives and finance professionals from a wide range of government and private sectors. Catering to their diverse needs, the agenda covered the full breadth of tax domains.
Discussions centred around the latest updates on the Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS) and the related tax impact, changes to direct and indirect tax schemes, the reintroduction of the tax dispute resolution mechanism through the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC), the cancellation of the 2019 Value-Added Tax (VAT) Circulars, and the potential introduction of a new tax policy and tax incentive packages.
In addition, the speakers offered detailed updates on international tax developments, which affect Egyptian businesses operating in other jurisdictions while still contributing to shaping the local tax environment. Among the main topics was the adoption of global minimum tax rates in line with Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Pillar 2 and the implementation of anti-tax avoidance measures.
They also discussed changes in tax policies and in response to international economic sanctions or geopolitical shifts, and integration of digital tax administration tools influenced by global best practices.
The event further provided participants with in-depth insights into the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in tax processes. Experts from EY highlighted how technologies can enhance efficiency and compliance, while improving the quality of tax work.
