Egypt’s GAFI partners with Foresight Consulting for economic and ESG expertise

Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Foresight Consulting.
Under the agreement, Foresight Consulting will provide a range of strategic consulting services, including economic consultancy to GAFI, market entry advisory to businesses looking to invest or expand their footprint in Egypt, and investor-related advisory services.
Additionally, the Cairo-based management consulting firm will support with research services, spanning market studies and the co-development of thought leadership.
Founded in 1971, GAFI is the principal governmental authority concerned with regulating and facilitating investment in Egypt. The body is tasked with promoting Egypt as an investment location, driving foreign direct investment into the nation, supporting entrepreneurs, and advocating an investor-friendly environment among government officials.
According to Hossam Heiba, the CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the memorandum of understanding will help GAFI stay on top of local and global economic developments, allowing the authority to fulfil its mission of enhancing Egypt’s investment environment in line with evolving business needs and expectations.
In a recent interview with CNBC on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib revealed that the country’s FDI inflow reached $46.1 billion in 2024, a significant leap from $10 billion in 2023. While much of that leap was attributed to a single deal (the $35 billion Ras El Hekma deal), GAFI has for the coming years set its sights on facilitating further structural growth.
Sustainability expertise
Another part of the collaboration will see Foresight Consulting prepare GAFI’s annual sustainability report, which offers in-depth insights into Egypt’s environmental and social sustainability landscape, ESG challenges that need to be tackled, and how Egypt’s business landscape adheres to international best practices.
Commenting on the partnership, Foresight Consulting’s CEO Hatem Zaazou stated: “We aim to assist GAFI in promoting sustainable, responsible, and transparent business practices in Egypt to create an investment-friendly environment for all economic players.”
