IBM receives Dubai AI Seal from Government with top-tier score

The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) has unveiled the first batch of companies that have received the Dubai AI Seal, with IBM among the honorees.
In February this year, the government of Dubai launched a new certification mechanism, the ‘Dubai AI Seal’, to promote trust in reliable artificial intelligence (AI) companies and establish the city as a global leader in AI. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI which was launched in April 2024.
Developed by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI), the Dubai AI Seal aims to create a network of trusted AI companies that government entities and businesses can rely on for secure AI solutions. The Dubai AI Seal will also give companies a competitive advantage in government procurement and major national projects.
“We launched the Dubai AI Seal initiative to create a comprehensive framework that fosters partnerships between government entities and specialised technology companies working on AI applications in Dubai, the UAE, and beyond,” said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister.
First batch including IBM
This week, DCAI announced the first group of companies to receive the Dubai AI Seal, with IBM the only non-Emirati company to achieve the top tier (level S).
Certified companies are classified under six tiers – E, D, C, B, A and S – to indicate the level of their economic contribution, with S representing the highest level of economic impact. Recipients will be permitted to display the seal across their digital platforms and promotional campaigns, showcasing their reliability and credibility.
Commenting on the milestone, Lula Mohanty, Global Managing Partner for Strategic Sales at IBM Consulting, said: “Receiving the prestigious Dubai AI Seal is exciting news for IBM and IBM Consulting. This important certification recognizes leadership in secure, responsible, and high-quality AI. As the only non-Emirati company to achieve this top tier, this reflects IBM’s deep commitment to AI excellence and our strong partnership in the UAE’s digital journey.”
AI in Dubai
Dubai is currently the world’s top location for attracting FDI in AI as a percentage of GDP and ranks seventh globally in readiness for adopting AI applications.
“Dubai AI Seal will help create powerful partnerships between the public and private sectors, locally, regionally, and globally. It will help drive new economic opportunities by leveraging AI to better serve the economy, society, and the future we aspire to,” said Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, which oversees the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence.
