PwC Middle East kicks off financial year with 62 new partners

Global accounting and consulting firm PwC has kicked off its new financial year – which runs from July 1st to June 30th – with 62 new partners.

The Big Four firm has welcomed new partners across its lines of service – Assurance, Consulting, Deals, Tax and Legal – and across most of its 30 offices in the Middle East.

Hani Ashkar, Senior Partner at PwC Middle East, said the new partner intake is a result of the firm’s growth over the past year and reflects its commitment to strengthening its leadership across the region.

“Our new partners represent the depth of talent and diversity across our region. Each brings a unique perspective and proven leadership to help our clients grow and transform with confidence. I’m proud to welcome them into the partnership as we continue to invest in our people, expand our impact, and deliver on our commitment to the region,” Ashkar said.

Together, PwC’s partners own the business, setting it apart from firms that are publicly traded or those with employee-owned structures. The partners lead a workforce of over 12,000 people in 12 countries, which makes PwC the largest of the so-called Big Four firms in the Middle East (the others are Deloitte, EY and KPMG).

Reflecting PwC’s focus on diversity & inclusion, Ashkar noted that over a quarter of the new partners this year are women, describing this as a “meaningful step” toward a more diverse and representative partnership group.

Among the new partner crop are also a few at Strategy&, the firm’s strategy consulting business. Strategy& meanwhile also saw a change of the guard at the top, with Jad Hajj taking over the role of Middle East Leader from George Sarraf, who in turn assumed the role of Global Leader.
