Al Nasr Contracting and Phi Management develop future leaders

Al Nasr Contracting has invested in a Leadership Development Centre designed to equip its leaders with the skills and confidence to navigate complex challenges and drive the company forward. Phi Management designed and delivered the centre, helping Al Nasr transform leadership development into impact.

Founded in 1972 in Abu Dhabi, Al Nasr Contracting has grown into one of the UAE’s leading multidisciplinary engineering and construction firms. The company is renowned for its expertise across civil, infrastructure, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical works.

With a workforce of several thousand, Al Nasr Contracting delivers complex projects ranging from pipelines and desalination plants to district cooling systems, high-voltage networks, and submarine infrastructure.

Recognising that strong leadership is as vital as technical excellence, Al Nasr Contracting recently offered a group of its leaders the opportunity to participate in a dedicated Leadership Development Centre. The aim was to create a safe and structured environment where participants could reflect on their leadership style, recognise their strengths, and identify practical areas for growth.

To achieve this, a team from Phi Management designed a fully tailored track comprising a case study, group activity, and role play, all rooted in realistic business and leadership scenarios.

Over the course of two full days in Abu Dhabi, participants were immersed in these exercises, with their behaviours observed by multiple assessors to ensure a fair, balanced, and comprehensive perspective on each individual’s leadership patterns.

From Insight to Action

Following the development day, participants engaged in one-on-one feedback sessions with the trained coaches. These conversations were designed to turn insights into action, with each leader co-creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP) based on the 70-20-10 learning model: 70% on-the-job learning, 20% through social activities, and 10% via formal training.

Each IDP was practical, behavioural, and customised to the unique development journey of the individual.

Turning Assessment into Development

Fast forward to today, and the participants have gained a clear understanding of how to strengthen their leadership and apply new insights in their daily work. With ongoing support and follow-up, they feel empowered to continue their journey and evolve into more confident and effective leaders.
