Diriyah Company and its consultant win Gold award for health & safety in Wadi Safar

A major health and safety program by Diriyah Company in Wadi Safar has received international recognition for its excellence and outstanding results.

At the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Diriyah Company was named a Gold winner thanks to its rigorous approach to health and safety management in the Wadi Safar East and West Package Infrastructure program.

Wadi Safar is part of a development by Diriyah Company on the western edge of Riyadh spanning an area of around 62 square kilometres. Wadi Safar is a cornerstone of Diriyah Company’s program to create new residential, cultural, leisure and hospitality opportunities while preserving the heritage of one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant historic sites.

The Infrastructure program oversees foundational works within the East and West areas, covering works such as utilities, roads, water network, electricity substations, sewage treatment, and more.

To ensure the safety of staff working on the program, Diriyah Company implemented health and safety measures that meet the highest standards of excellence. That approach, delivered with support from engineering company Jacobs, has now been recognised on the global stage.

“At Diriyah Company, our unwavering commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who contributes to our projects is at the very heart of everything we do. I am deeply honored that the Wadi Safar Masterplan has earned the distinguished Gold prize at the RoSPA Awards, a testament to our dedication to excellence in safety,” said Jerry Inzerillo, the CEO of Diriyah Company.

With a team of almost 45,000 and annual revenues of approximately $12 billion, Jacobs is one of the world’s larger engineering and technical advisory groups. The company is the parent of PA Consulting.

Zaher Abu Hijleh, a Senior Vice President in the Middle East at Jacobs, said: “This award is a testament to the team’s relentless focus on health and safety. We’re proud to see that commitment recognized on such a significant project – and to see our people leading the way in a market experiencing exceptional growth and activity.”

Amanda Aldred, a Senior Director in the region, added: “Safety is embedded as a shared value from the outset of our projects. It is a proud moment to see that proactive planning, continuous improvement and strong stakeholder engagement are recognized on a global stage.”
