KPMG signals confidence in the region with new partner appointments

KPMG has announced the appointment of two new partners across its UAE and Saudi Arabia practices: Mahmood Ghani and Lamyaa AlRasheed.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Abdullah Al Fozan, Middle East CEO of the global accounting and consulting firm, emphasised that the hire of two new partners amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty underscores the firm’s commitment to the region and its continued focus on investing in people.

“Periods of regional volatility tend to clarify where the long-term opportunity lies, and our conviction in the Gulf has never been stronger,” he said. “The appointments of Lamyaa and Mahmood in the UAE reflect our commitment to investing in senior leadership of calibre – strengthening both our Audit and Advisory practices, and standing with our clients through every cycle.”

Mahmood ‘Mac’ Ghani joins the Advisory business. He brings extensive international experience across the technology sector, with a proven track record of building strategic partnerships and leading large-scale business transformation programs.

He joins KPMG from Accenture, where he played an important role in expanding the Microsoft business group across Asia-Pacific and shaped its overall strategy and growth trajectory.

At KPMG, Ghani strengthens the firm’s ability to support clients across the region as they accelerate cloud, artificial intelligence, and ecosystem-led transformation – agendas that are gaining urgency as enterprises seek to build more resilient, technology-enabled operating models.

Lamyaa AlRasheed joins the Audit business from EY, bringing deep experience leading audit engagements across some of Saudi Arabia’s most important sectors, including government, telecom, technology, retail, and services.

Beyond her client portfolio, AlRasheed serves on the SOCPA Examination Committee, is a member of advisory committees at two Saudi Arabian universities, and was recently appointed to the IFAC PAO Development & Advisory Group representing Saudi Arabia on the global stage.

Emilio Pera, Deputy CEO of KPMG in the Middle East and CEO of the Lower Gulf business, stated: “The resilience the GCC has demonstrated through recent headwinds has only deepened our confidence in the region. Welcoming Mac and Lamyaa as partners is a clear statement of KPMG’s commitment to the region – investing in the senior talent that helps our clients build more resilient, transformation-ready businesses across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.”
