HKA partner Tom Kapapa relocates to the firm’s Abu Dhabi office
HKA partner Tom Kapapa has relocated from the firm’s Doha to Abu Dhabi office, where he will play an important role in expanding HKA’s offering in the UAE market.
A surveyor with over 25 years of construction industry experience, Kapapa specialises in delay and quantum issues for civil and building infrastructure and industrial works.
He has been with HKA for over eight years, most recently serving as Head of Operations in the Qatar business. Effective this month, he has crossed to the Abu Dhabi office – one of HKA’s six offices in the Middle East.
“While continuing to support existing projects and client relationships in Qatar, Tom’s presence in Abu Dhabi enhances our ability to respond to growing demand in one of the region’s most important construction markets,” said HKA in a statement.
In his client work, Kapapa acts as both a delay and quantum expert. He has acted as expert for disputed sums up to $600 million and for projects values in excess of $5 billion. He has been cross-examined in international arbitration twice, including giving concurrent evidence (hot-tubbing), and has been praised by both counsel and tribunals for his testimony.
Kapapa also acts as both an arbitrator and mediator and has taken the lead on a dispute adjudication board, as well as leading numerous claims negotiations.
“Tom’s relocation places HKA in a strong position to sustain its momentum in the UAE throughout the year, strengthen client relationships, and help deliver complex, high-value projects across the region. I look forward to supporting Tom in his new role and to his ongoing contributions to the firm’s success,” commented Haroon Niazi, partner and EMEA leader of the Construction Claims and Expert Services practice.
Headquartered in London, HKA is one of the leading global consultancies for risk mitigation on capital projects, forensic investigations, dispute resolution, expert witness and litigation support services.
