Sourcing Connections partners with carbmee to strengthen sustainability data foundation
Sourcing Connections, a procurement advisory firm, has signed a strategic partnership with carbmee, a provider of carbon accounting and environmental intelligence solutions.
Under the partnership, Sourcing Connections will integrate carbmee’s Environmental Intelligence System (EIS) platform into its sustainable procurement offering. The combined proposition is designed to help Chief Procurement Officers and their teams advance supply chain decarbonization, support net-zero ambitions, and establish continuous carbon management capabilities.
According to Mark Fadel, Managing Director of Sourcing Connections, the partnership follows an extensive search for a carbon accounting platform capable of meeting the increasingly sophisticated requirements of organizations navigating sustainability transformation.
“In a crowded marketplace of carbon accounting solutions, carbmee stood out because of its transaction-level data foundation,” said Fadel. “It brings rigor to environmental data, which is exactly what the new regulatory environment and our clients’ net-zero ambitions demand.”
Compliance and competitiveness
The partnership comes at a time when sustainability has become a strategic priority in boardrooms across the Gulf. Organizations are increasingly viewing environmental performance not only as a compliance requirement, but also as a source of competitive advantage, driven by growing expectations from investors, customers, regulators, and other stakeholders.
At the same time, climate-related regulation is accelerating across the region. “Climate accountability in the GCC is moving from voluntary ambition to firm expectation,” Fadel noted.
In the UAE, Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024 requires companies to measure, report, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while developing climate adaptation plans. Saudi Arabia’s decarbonization agenda is being shaped by the Saudi Green Initiative and the Kingdom’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. Meanwhile, Qatar’s National Climate Change Action Plan targets a 25% reduction in emissions by 2030.
Against this backdrop, the two firms aim to provide organizations with the environmental data foundations needed to support sustainability objectives and regulatory compliance efforts.
Through the partnership, Sourcing Connections will implement carbmee’s EIS platform for clients across the public and private sectors, enabling them to establish emissions baselines, engage suppliers more effectively, and develop data-driven decarbonization roadmaps.
