Wipro strengthens telecom consulting leadership in KSA with Vikas Sharma

Global IT services company Wipro has strengthened its consulting leadership team in Saudi Arabia with the appointment of Vikas Sharma.

Appointed a partner in Riyadh, Sharma brings nearly 20 years of experience to Wipro, with a focus on the telecom sector. He becomes a senior member in the Telecom, Media and Technology industry practice.

Throughout his career, Sharma has gained experience with telecom strategy, large enterprise-wide transformations, telecom regulations, network operations, target operating models, IT governance, AI-driven and data transformations, technology implementation, and enterprise programs across Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Europe, and North America.

He has deep expertise in fixed and mobile network domains, satellite connectivity, utility provider’s network connectivity, systems operator modernization, and business process transformation.

Sharma joins Wipro from Accenture, where he spent around a dozen years in its UAE and Saudi business, most recently as Principal Director in the Communications, Media & Technology practice. In the role, he advised operator leadership teams on network strategy, connectivity modernization, network assessments, value case for satellite connectivity and large business transformations – including engagements with the top two operators in the region.

Earlier, he worked in industry, serving major telecom groups in Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Welcoming Sharma to the firm, Sidharth Mishra, Senior Vice President for the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa said: “Operators across the region are making decisions today – on network modernization, non-terrestrial connectivity, and AI-led operations – that will define their position for the next decade. Those decisions need advisors who have sat on the operator side of the table, and Vikas brings exactly that.”

“His appointment reflects a deliberate investment in consulting-led transformation across our Telecom, Media and Technology business in the Middle East, built on a platform Wipro has been developing in the region for over 25 years.”

Headquartered in India, Wipro has approximately 240,000 employees worldwide. The group has a global consulting business and is the parent company of Capco, a financial services consultancy.
