DSV, a global transport and logistics firm, has opened a new logistics facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone, with PMKConsult appointed as the delivery consultant of the 30,000 square metre warehouse.

Commissioned by Lintara Properties, the real estate development platform of Arcapita Group, the project saw PMKConsult support the turnkey build-to-suit development for DSV.

Lintara Properties specialises in the advisory, development and management of industrial real estate across the Gulf region, including in Jebel Ali Free Zone. PMKConsult is a consultancy specialising in the delivery of built environment and construction projects across the UAE and Gulf.

PMKConsult was appointed as the design, cost and project management consultant. Its remit included aligning the contractor’s design development with DSV’s global design standards, coordinating between the contractor, developer and end user, and managing approvals from the relevant authorities.

“Our interrogation of DSV’s global warehouse design specifications ensured that the built facility suited the local climate and regulatory environment,” according to PMKConsult.

PMKConsult also led project management, overseeing the development through to completion. Its team closely monitored progress on site and managed the close-out and handover process, while ensuring the project was delivered in line with client requirements.

The logistics facility

Situated in the South Campus of Jebel Ali Free Zone, the 30,000 square metre logistics warehouse was built to strengthen DSV’s operational footprint in Dubai and facilitate its growth ambition.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, DSV employs approximately 150,000 people worldwide. The company provides air and sea freight, road transport and contract logistics services, including warehousing, freight management and e-commerce fulfilment. Dubai serves as an important hub for DSV’s operations in the Gulf.

The new facility features high-bay storage with a maximum internal storage height of 17 metres and capacity for 75,000 pallet positions. It also includes dedicated pharmaceutical areas, temperature-controlled zones, cold rooms, workshops, dangerous goods areas, large mezzanines and office space for staff.

Reflecting on the collaboration with PMKConsult, Andrew Marshall, Business Development Manager at Lintara Properties, said: “The PMKConsult team were very good in terms of communication, always taking the lead in meetings with multiple stakeholders, always very clear and diplomatic.”
