Alvarez & Marsal adds two managing directors to Middle East team
Alvarez & Marsal’s Saudi Arabia chief country manager Dina Abo-Onoq has been named as one of the consultancy’s 41 new managing directors, together with Tanveer Awan in Dubai.
Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has made 41 managing director promotions worldwide, including Dina Abo-Onoq – appointed just over twelve months ago as Chief Country Manager for Saudi Arabia – and Tanveer Awan, who serves in the consultancy’s Strategy and Performance Improvement practice in Dubai. Awan has been with the firm since 2017.
Dina Abo-Onoq
One of just six females among the 41 new managing director promotions – and the only one beyond the US – Dina Abo-Onoq has continued her notable rise in the male-dominated realm of Saudi Arabian business, following up her chief country manager appointment (as the first female Saudi national to head a professional services firm of its type in the Kingdom) with the latest elevation barely a year on – the most recent entry in an impressive resume spanning two decades.
Listing global corporate leadership, strategic planning, divisional turnaround and market intelligence as among her many strengths, Abo-Onoq has over the course of her career served in leadership and business development positions with a number of big names in the wealth management sector, including stints with Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole’s Indosuez, as well as for Liechtenstein’s royal financial services entity LGT in the Middle East.
Tanveer Awan
Tanveer Awan has been named as Alvarez & Marsal’s second end-of-year managing director promotion in the Middle East, with Awan having joined the firm’s Dubai office at the beginning of 2017. A member of A&M’s local Strategy & Performance Improvement practice specialised in large-scale transformations, Awan has amassed more than a decade and a half of consulting experience throughout his career, both in the UAE and abroad, including a five-year spell at Bain.
A master’s holder in engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (since complemented by an MBA with Switzerland’s prestigious Institute for Management Development), Awan kicked off his career with five years between consultancies Bekk and Schlumberger, before graduating to Bain & Company in Norway following the completion of his MBA – and further served the MBB consultancy in the GCC before crossing to A&M.
Further managing director promotions were made in the US, Canada, Brazil, Russia, India and China, along with in Germany and the UK – with the firm’s European division having recently cracked the 1,000 employees mark to now contribute one quarter of its overall global headcount. Founded in 1983, today the firm has some 60 offices spread across 25 countries, with at least four new branches set to launch this year following recent additions in Switzerland and the UK.
“We are pleased to publicly congratulate the leaders being promoted to Managing Director within the firm,” said A&M’s Chief Operating Officer John Suckow, who has been with the firm for the best part of two decades. “A&M’s people are our greatest strength. The contributions of our newly promoted Managing Directors have created value for our clients. Their commitment to our core values of integrity, quality, objectivity, fun, and personal reward is what makes A&M unique.”
