BrazilBCG's Leila Hoteit among top 50 businesswomen in Middle East
For the second year in a row, Boston Consulting Group’s Leila Hoteit has been named one of the Middle East’s 50 most powerful businesswomen. Lebanese-origin Leila Hoteit is based in the Dubai office of the strategy consulting firm.
Leila Hoteit has been with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) since 2014, having previously served Booz & Company (now Strategy&) for close to a decade. She has over 20 years of strategy and operations experience gained through projects in the Middle East and Europe, with a focus on societal issues that punctuate the MENA region; these include education, women's empowerment, human capital development, employment and culture.
At BCG, Hoteit is currently a Managing Director and Senior Partner and a member of the Public Sector and People & Organisation practices in the Middle East. She also is a member of the Social Impact leadership team where she leads the Education domain, focused on the early childhood, K-12 (primary and secondary) education and the tertiary education (higher education, vocational & training) segments.
Alongside her regional role, Hoteit – formerly a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum (named in 2014) – is the global leader of BCG’s Education, Employment and Welfare practice.
A Power Businesswomen yet again
On the back of her feature in last year’s list, Forbes has yet again named Hoteit as one of Middle East’s 50 most powerful women in business. The select and prestigious list of leaders have one thing in common – “they have shown resilience, flexibility, and strength in the face of unprecedented adversity in 2020, both in the workplace and in their communities.”
Hoteit was in particular lauded for her lead role in driving over 50% growth for BCG’s Global Education, Employment and Welfare vertical compared to 2019, and the significant contributions she made to the 60% growth that BCG’s Social Impact practice booked vis a vis the year previous.
The top 50 leaders are also selected by Forbes for their contribution to giving back to the community. In the Middle East, Hoteit has been engaged with public and social impact projects with federal and local governments to mitigate the impact of the pandemic in the economic, healthcare and welfare aspects.
According to the Lebanese American University (LAU), one of the leading universities in Lebanon, “Leila has over many years now promoted a positive role model for Lebanese and Arab women in business, through holding an executive position at a leading consulting firm, driving human capital development in the region, and advocating for women economic empowerment.”
Leila Hoteit earned a doctorate in electrical engineering from Imperial College London and an MBA from INSEAD.
