Bauer Aviation Advisory installs advisory board with heavyweights
Dubai-headquartered Bauer Aviation Advisory has established an advisory board with four industry heavyweights, as the consultancy seeks to accelerate its growth and reputation in the Middle East.
Bauer Aviation Advisory launched around three years ago, and has since grown to a network of 35 consultants, all dedicated to the aviation industry. The firm’s award-winning team works with leaders of airlines and airports on a range of strategic and operational matters, including corporate and business unit growth strategy, marketing and pricing, turnarounds, performance improvement, supply chain management, and digital transformation.
Having delivered several projects in the region, Bauer Aviation Advisory formally unveiled its launch in January this year, with founder Linus Benjamin Bauer at the time stating that “the industry more than ever [in light of the unprecedented Covid-19 impact] needs a trusted partner to help it confront its challenges and navigate the new normal.”
Fast forward four months, and the “foundation has been set” for the firm to fly towards its next phase of growth, said Bauer. This will be achieved by growing the team, enhancing the firm’s profile and recognition in the marketplace, and the development of market-leading offerings.
Supporting these developments is a new advisory board consisting of four leaders with strong track records in Middle East’s aviation scene. “They will use their collective expertise to provide strategic management advice that will guide our future direction and sustainable growth in the Middle East and other priority markets to 2023 and beyond,” explained Bauer.
The German Stefan Pichler is the former CEO of Royal Jordanian who helped the carrier return to profitability between 2017 and 2019. Earlier in his career, he was the CEO of Jazeera Airways, Air Berlin, Fiji Airways and Thomas Cook, as well as CCO of Virgin Australia and Lufthansa.
Laila Hareb Almheiri brings nearly three decades of experience in the industry to the board. She previously led the transformation of the General Civil Aviation Authority in the UAE, and was part of the team that secured multiple bilateral agreements that facilitated the growth of four major UAE carriers: Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, FlyDubai and Air Arabia.
Almheiri’s track record has seen her recognised by the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Aviation Women's Association as one of the top 70 Women Inspiring Generations of Aviation Professionals in the world.
The duo are joined by Aya Sadder, the former Incubator manager of Intelak (MENA region’s first aviation, travel and tourism incubator) and Tilmann Gabriel, a former Lufthansa senior executive and training captain.
“Their experience in organisational restructuring and strategic turnaround management will motivate clients to rethink how they can optimise their business models at a time when the industry recovery picks up pace. I’m much looking forward to working closely with the advisory board on shaping a sustainable future for aviation,” concluded Bauer.
