Accenture opens its immersive showcase at Expo 2020 Dubai
Accenture has formally opened its dedicated venue at Expo 2020 Dubai, as the event’s official Digital Services Partner seeks to showcase its suite of cutting-edge technologies and innovations.
Branded as the world’s greatest business show, Expo 2020 Dubai has finally – postponed by a year due to Covid-19 restrictions – opened its grand doors, in what is promoted to be the most spectacular edition to date. In the coming six months, around 25 million visitors from around the world are expected to visit Dubai to gain insights in the latest ideas, inventions, and innovations that tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems.
Over 180 countries are taking part in the event (such as the US, Germany, France and the UAE), as are hundreds of leading multinationals, family businesses and institutions, including the event’s most important knowledge and delivery partners – of which global consulting and technology powerhouse Accenture is one of.
Building Expo’s vision
The role of Accenture Middle East is two-fold. In the run-up to the event, the firm was one of the main delivery partners, part of a team that designed and built the digital infrastructure needed to deliver a highly personalised visitor experience.
“We set out to help Expo deliver on their theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the future’ by making the Dubai event the most connected Expo ever,” said Gerardo Canta, senior managing director at Accenture. “Accenture and Etisalat Digital worked with Expo and its other technology partners to build a vast digital infrastructure that delivers a highly personalised visitor experience.”
“From designing, implementing, and running the platforms that power hyper-personalised guest experiences to giving Expo 2020 Dubai the tools to reach new audiences and tell new stories, we helped deliver an end-to-end integrated solution, driving real connections.”
Moreover, the firm’s technologists created a suite of digital channels – including a website, mobile app and chatbot – leveraging artificial intelligence, natural language processing and data analytics, to ensure an accessible and personalised experience for all.
Mohammed Alhashmi, Chief Innovation Technology Officer of Expo 2020 Dubai, took the time to thank the consultancy for the hard work it put in. “Our partnership with Accenture helped us realise our vision of an innovative, powerful, personalised, and engaging digital experience that continues to bring Expo 2020 to life for millions of visitors.”
Accenture’s own dedicated venue at the Expo – the Accenture Exchange – will showcase how the firm helped build the mega-event. Alexis Lecanuet, Accenture’s regional managing director in the Middle East, said: “With the inauguration of our Accenture Exchange, we celebrate this achievement and welcome our industry stakeholders and peers to visit and learn about the transformative journey to deliver the digital foundations for this World Expo.”
Showcasing the future
Located in The Partners Hub, overlooking Al Wasl Plaza, the Accenture Exchange will also present the best of Accenture’s technology and innovation toolkit (artificial intelligence, cloud, blockchain, quantum computing, etc) aimed at solving issues in areas such as sustainability, energy, health, travel and tourism, and global payments.
The ‘immersive environment’ (a virtual and augmented environment that blends the digital world with the real world) will also give visitors access to special events, demos, talent experiences, workshops, live streams, and collaboration opportunities.
Having visited the venue yesterday, Expo 2020 Dubai leader Alhashmi remarked: “At Expo 2020 we are committed to demonstrating how innovative technology can create a positive impact and improve the way the world lives and works. Accenture, with its diverse portfolio of industry-leading technologies, shares the same goal.”
