Mahesh Rege joins Baker Tilly’s tax practice as a director
Global accounting and advisory network Baker Tilly has welcomed Mahesh Rege as a Director to its Tax practice.
Mahesh Rege joins Baker Tilly from EY, where he spent over a decade – across two spells, with a two-year stint at PwC in between – in its Indirect Tax practice. During this period, he gained extensive experience with tax litigation, indirect tax, budgeting and cost control matters.
Having relocated from India to Dubai to take on his new role, Rege has become a member of Baker Tilly’s Tax division.
“I am delighted to join the Middle East practice of Baker Tilly, which ranks as one of the top ten assurance, advisory and tax practices in the region [as well as globally],” said Rege on his affiliation with the firm.
On his arrival in Dubai, he said: “I am fascinated with the city and the UAE’s leadership. The complex tax system in the region is turning towards maturity and I look forward to serving the business community navigate tax regulation and advance their operations.”
Rege’s addition comes hot on the heels of the addition of TCN Swamy, who similarly relocated from India to bolster Baker Tilly’s Middle East practice. Swamy is a partner and head of the Tax division.
In the Middle East and North Africa region, Baker Tilly has with around 50 offices and operates under the ‘one firm’ principle – meaning that local partners are incentivised to collaborate cross-border and put the interest of the MENA group at the helm of their decision-making.
