Following more than a decade in the finance function of two industrial Saudi groups, Al-Sunaid then spent over five years in the Dammam office of another Big Four firm. He joined KPMG as a partner, and most recently served as the COO of the Tax division prior to his step up to the top role for the Saudi and Levant region.

Al-Sunaid’s areas of expertise include domestic and international tax compliance, tax disputes and resolutions, and tax operations. He has worked for businesses across the Kingdom, and on numerous occasions collaborated with the Department of Zakat and Income Tax (“DZIT”) with respect to dispute resolutions.

In addition, within KPMG, Al-Sunaid has played a vital role in developing the firm’s operations in the Al Khobar office through his market reach in the Eastern Province.

“We are privileged to appoint Tareq as Head of Tax and for him to become part of the firm’s executive leadership team. Tareq will be an invaluable asset to KPMG and further strengthen our position in the market,” commented Abdullah Hamad Al Fozan, Chairman and CEO of KPMG in Saudi Arabia and Levant.

Reflecting on his expanded remit, Al-Sunaid said: “I have always been happy to be a part of the KPMG and am proud to take this next step. I look forward to working with our talented and well-respected tax professionals in this exciting journey of growth and service our clients with their challenges.”
