Rob Shorthouse and James Fearnley-Marr join Teneo in Dubai

Global consulting firm Teneo has bolstered its team in Dubai with two new managing directors.

Both Rob Shorthouse and James Fearnley-Marr join Teneo’s Communications Advisory division – one of the firm’s five main divisions alongside management consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory and talent advisory.

The Communications Advisory wing of Teneo works with clients on topics including communications strategy, crisis management, government and public affairs, investor relations, and reputation management.

Shorthouse brings over 20 years of experience in providing strategic communications counsel to government leaders, senior politicians, executive and other public figures in the UK, Asia and the Middle East. A specialist in narrative building, campaigning and strategy development, he has worked on major political campaigns, international sporting event bids and transformation projects in a number of large organisations.

Prior to joining Teneo, Shorthouse was a Partner with Consulum and led the work on the ‘Relaunch Hong Kong’ campaign – designing a global communications and marketing strategy for the Hong Kong government. Earlier in his career, he was a senior advisor to the First Minister of Scotland, Head of Communications for the Scottish Football Association and was Director of Communications and special advisor to the Chief Constable of the second largest police force in the UK.

Fearnley-Marr has 15 years of experience advising multinational companies, public sector organisations and leaders on strategic communications, reputation management, issues and crises, financial communications, government affairs and partnerships.

Prior to joining Teneo, Fearnley-Marr was Strategy Director and External Affairs Director at Reckitt, a consumer goods company where he led reputational initiatives and global corporate affairs projects. Previously, he worked with Finsbury in London and Singapore advising clients in EMEA and APAC. His experience spans a range of sectors including aviation, banking, consumer goods, fintech, insurance, private equity and real estate.
