David Swaine joins EY's tax services practice as a partner
EY has strengthened its Tax partnership in the UAE with David Swaine, who brings more than 25 years of experience in advisory and industry to the role.
A Chartered Tax Adviser, Swaine has been appointed a Dubai-based partner in EY’s Business Tax Services practice, which provides clients with a full range of tax advisory services, from business tax and international tax, to transaction tax and tax-related issues associated with people, compliance, and law.
Joining the Big Four firm from BP, where he spent sixteen years, latterly as Tax Director for global businesses groups Castrol and Air BP, Swaine bolsters EY’s corporate tax and tax policy capabilities across the UAE.
Building on his background at BP, he will at EY focus on clients in the energy and oil & gas sectors. Prior to his time at the oil giant, Swaine spent a decade at KPMG in the United Kingdom, where he grew the ranks from trainee to senior manager level.
During his career, Swaine led the implementation of tax compliance and optimisation strategies including new transfer pricing models, country exit/entry, risk management and indirect tax control frameworks, combining strong technical judgement with deep business understanding. “I build trusted relationships and leverage them to deliver value, and am passionate about developing people and creating an inclusive working environment,” he said.
Welcoming Swaine to the firm, the MENA leader of EY’s Business Tax Services practice, Wadih Abounasr, stated “I am delighted to welcome David to strengthen our capability. He brings wide-ranging experience from a career of over 25 years spanning industry and practice, and has advised both governments and large organisations.”
