DAMAC hires consultancies for Europe-inspired luxury lagoon resort
DAMAC Properties has hired several consulting firms to help support the completion of the next round of clusters at DAMAC Lagoons, a luxury residential development located in the heart of Dubai which features a range of luxurious apartments, villas, and townhouses with extensive amenities.
DAMAC Lagoons is made up of a range of Mediterranean-inspired communities, each with its own theme, that feature artificial lagoons. The complex, located in the Dubailand area, offers a slice of Europe in the heart of the Gulf Region for those that value luxury and comfort over authenticity. And as they say: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Adding to the existing Santorini, Costa Brava, and Portofino clusters of DAMAC Lagoons, the parent company has hired engineering consultancy firm AECOM to assist the construction of the new Venice cluster and a Central Hub. Gondolas and scenic canals are mandatory, but Italian language is optional.
Additionally, DAMAC Properties awarded a contract to BHNS Engineering Consultants for the development of two new clusters: Malta, Nice 1, and Nice 2 (only time will tell if the sequel can live up to the original). A similar contract was awarded to Khatib & Alami for the creation of Nice 3, the Costa Brava villa package, and Portofino clusters.
Energoprojekt Entel won a contract for services required to build an electrical substation necessary to power the complex. This substation will be built following the strict regulations of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
“Work is progressing well across all clusters as part of phase 1 of the DAMAC Lagoons development. After our recent launch of a newly added ninth cluster to the community, Ibiza, we are pleased to see the pace of works at the DAMAC Lagoons master development, and look forward to keeping our commitments for a timely delivery,” said Mohammed Tahaineh, General Manager at DAMAC Properties.
AECOM is a multinational built environment consultancy based in the US and with offices around the world, including the UAE. BHNS Engineering Consultants is a Dubai-based consulting firm that offers services related to architecture, design, and urban planning. Khatib & Alami, also based in Dubai, is a consultancy that offers professional services in the same fields.
Dubai is a leading destination for luxury tourism and their hotel sector is among the top performing markets in the world, having almost totally recovered after the pandemic brought travel to near standstill. The most populous city in the UAE, the so-called ‘City of Gold’ has a booming economy and recently unveiled a $1.8 trillion roadmap for boosting trade, investment, and making the city a global hub.
