KPMG names Farouk Karreem Head of Audit for Saudi Arabia and Levant
KPMG has promoted lifelong company member Farouk Karreem to Head of Audit for Saudi Arabia and Levant.
Effective 1 June 2023, Farouk Karreem leads 800-person Audit business in the Kingdom, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq. The division is responsible for the auditing of financial statements of clients and ensuring their published accounts provide a true and fair view of their financial position and results.
Karreem brings 21 years of experience in audit and advisory experience with KPMG in both the public and private sectors. Before relocating to the region in 2016, he spent fifteen years at KPMG in South Africa.
Most recently, Karreem was Head of Audit for the Riyadh office since 2018. He now steps up to the top regional role, taking over from Muhammad Tariq, who has moved on to hold a regional role as Head of Audit for the Middle East, South Asia and Caspian region.
In South Africa, Karreem held a number of senior roles, including serving as Managing Partner of the KwaZulu-Natal region, and a tenure as member of the Board of Directors.

KPMG’s Audit division works for some of the largest listed entities and mega projects in Saudi Arabia. The professional services firm also has divisions that offer consulting, deals, and tax services.
