Mukatafa partners with ocean regeneration initiative WAVE

WAVE, a new platform to support international efforts on regenerating the oceans of the world and preserving ocean sustainability, has launched. The partnership of 22 public and private organizations includes Riyadh-based management consulting firm Mukatafa.

The new initiative was unveiled in a ceremony attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Energy, and Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud. Organized as a collaboration mainly between the FII Institute and the Ministry of Energy, WAVE is being supported by a large number of organizations, including Saudi Aramco and several other Saudi organizations.

The goal of WAVE is to connect diverse stakeholders in different geographies and industries in order to better coordinate reaching environmental balance in the oceans and cutting back on pollution.

Commenting on the launch, Richard Attias, CEO of the FII Institute, said: “Our oceans, the heartbeats of our planet, are gasping under unparalleled threats. As a scuba diver, I can tell that every moment we delay, a piece of our marine soul withers.”

“Yet, in these dire times lies a chance – not just to shield the intricate dance of marine life, but to embrace the vast promise of a harmonious blue economy. It’s more than an obligation; it is our legacy for the children of tomorrow.”

Some of the other goals of the initiative are to build a digital information hub, launch awareness campaigns, drive technological efforts, foster thought leadership, and facilitate access to resources.

WAVE has so far secured 22 partnerships, with Princess Reema inviting more organizations to “Join the WAVE” in making the planet’s oceans a better place.

“Oceans and seas play a crucial role in the lives, health, and well-being of humanity, directly impacting the overall health, well-being, and economy of the world. This initiative seeks to build connections and harmony among various international efforts, aiming to achieve its ambitious and yet attainable goal of environmentally regenerating the oceans within one generation,” Princess Reema said.

Among the inaugural cohort of partner organizations is Mukatafa, a leading Saudi management consultancy firm. The firm helps private sector and public sector leaders with shaping a positive future through systematic collaboration.
