Global strategy and management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has introduced a new role in the India, Middle East, and Africa (IMEA) region aimed at fostering wellbeing across the business. Appointed as the inaugural lead is company insider Clare McDonald.

A newly formed role, the Wellbeing Lead is tasked with promoting the (mental) health and happiness of employees. The role is part of Oliver Wyman’s goal to support the wellbeing of its staff, under the umbrella of its ambition to be the best home for talent in the world of management consulting.

“People are at the heart of what we do at Oliver Wyman and the wellbeing of our employees and providing everyone with support along their personal journey is a key part of our value proposition,” commented Isabell Stobwasser, Director of Talent for the IMEA Region.

“We are thrilled to have Clare take on this new role, the first of its kind in our business, and we know she will approach it with a lot of passion, as well as support from leadership,” Stobwasser continued.

McDonald is a familiar face for Oliver Wyman’s colleagues, having been with the firm since 2013, working across the Talent Management function. In her new role, she will act as the company’s central point of contact for wellbeing matters, leading programs to enhance employee wellbeing and supporting employee engagement.

McDonald brings extensive human resources experience to the role, coupled with her qualifications in mental health first aid, personal training, yoga, and nutrition coaching.

“Drawing upon my own health journey, I hope to support and inspire my Oliver Wyman colleagues to thrive – physically, mentally and emotionally, both inside and outside of work,” said McDonald. “Working in management consulting is a demanding industry, and prioritising wellbeing is a challenge that needs to be looked at holistically.”

Oliver Wyman has more than 7,000 professionals in 70 cities across 30 countries, together they generate revenues of over $2.8 billion. In the Middle East, the firm ranks as one of the leading management consulting firms, a position it also holds worldwide.

Other pillars of the firm’s talent value proposition span rich learning & development opportunities including financial support for an MBA, an exchange program for office transfers, externships for gaining experience in industry, and a program for career counselling and mentoring. The firm also hosts all kinds of purpose-focused pro-bono initiatives for talent, and communities focused on career development.
