Construction Management Associates (CMA) has launched two new offerings that help improve the maturity of contract management in construction projects.

The first new offering, named Contract Administration, helps project managers professionalise and streamline their contract administration. On major projects in the built environment, and in particular mega projects, contract management can become a (very) large task, and come with several challenges and complexities.

The CMA offering sees procurement experts from the firm take over the full contract management process, from contract drafting and administration through to monitoring and completion.

“Our Contract Administration offering supports project managers from inception to completion, and is delivered on an easy-to-go subscription basis. Our expert offering sets projects up for success and saves them cots further down the project lifecycle,” stated CMA on its new proposition.

Indeed, research from HKAhas found that failure of contract administration is the top cause of construction disputes, and notably, an average dispute value in the Middle East’s construction sector stands at $90.4 million – the highest average anywhere in the world.

The second new service is billed Contracts PMO, which is a service at portfolio level. The Contracts PMO helps centralize the control of all contracts from all projects being run across the business.

Building such a holistic view of contract management can lead to several benefits, including a more efficient operation, a harmonized approach to contracts across projects, a ‘single source of truth’, improved visibility of risks, and in the case things go wrong, more effective management of disputes.

“Our Contracts PMO service supports construction executives in centralizing contracts and risk management across all their projects. We study the current setup and customize a high-performance system that integrates smoothly with the company’s organization and culture,” stated CMA.

CMA is a Jordan-headquartered consulting firm dedicated to the construction sector. Since its inception in 1999, CMA has supported the delivery of over 100 projects in MENA, including a number of iconic buildings in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Lebanon. The firm advises owners, developers and contractors on how to ensure projects are well designed and well delivered, typically from the very start of the lifecycle.
