Under the leadership of recent senior hire Muhammad Altaf Hussain, SZ Chartered Accountants has in recent months been notably expanding its footprint in the consulting landscape.

In June this year, SZ Chartered Accountants brought former AJMS Global senior partner Muhammad Altaf Hussain on board to help the Dubai-based professional services firm expand its presence and offerings. Appointed Head of Accountancy and Consultancy, Hussain has since his arrival launched several new service lines, recruited new staff including partners, and inked strategic partnerships with other firms across the region.

Hussain has over 25 years in the consulting scene as well as in industry. He previously spent five years at EY, two years at Baker Tilly, and more recently, was a senior partner at AJMS Global where he led the Tax practice in Dubai and served as the founder and managing partner of the firm’s businesses in Oman and Pakistan.

An expert in management advisory and taxation, Hussain has successfully delivered complex engagements in numerous countries in the region, at clients in energy, banking, insurance, media, technology, health, real estate, logistics, and other sectors.

During his career, Hussain also served as the CEO of an Afghan Bank, the CEO of a Central Asian fuel logistics group, and the CFO of an oil & gas company, among others.

Building on his expertise and experience, Hussain has overseen the launch of seven new service lines at SZ Chartered Accountants, namely Assurance, Tax, Advisory, Enterprise Process Management, Treasury, Forensics and Training. Additionally, he has led the recruitment of partners and staff, and the signing of strategic partnerships with professional practices in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Turkey, Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan.

“We are excited that Muhammad has joined us as the functional leader to formally launch a rebranded and diversified practice of SZ Chartered Accountants,” stated SZ Chartered Accountants in a release. “We are confident that under his leadership, our firm will be a force to reckon with in the region’s professional services marketplace.”

Founded 18 years ago, SZ Chartered Accountants is a boutique initially focused only on forensic services. Later on, the firm also moved into audit, however, earlier this year the company unveiled an aggressive expansion strategy aimed at realizing fast-track growth within the advisory segment – both in the GCC and beyond, with Hussain playing an integral role in driving that ambition forward.
