Turner & Townsend appointed as project manager of RAK Central

Turner & Townsend has been appointed by RAK Central to provide project management services for the 3.1 million square feet large-scale mixed-use development in Ras Al-Khaimah.

RAK Central will be a work-live-play destination and will comprise commercial offices including master developer Marjan’s new headquarters, retail and entertainment facilities, food and beverage facilities, three business hotels (>1,000 keys), 4,000 residential apartments and public realm areas spanning five interconnected buildings.

If all goes to plan, the mixed-use destination will open its doors in 2027, then becoming the largest commercial business district in the Northern Emirates.

Turner & Townsend, a global firm specialising in the delivery of major programmes and projects in the built environment, has been appointed to lead the project – ensuring it is delivered on time, within budget, and in line with pre-agreed quality standards.

“We will provide project management services for the construction delivery of RAK Central, covering five towers with podiums and below ground parking,” explained Michael McDaid, Project Director at Turner & Townsend. “Upon completion, RAK Central will become a destination of choice for both world-renowned companies and the local community to thrive. We look forward to playing our part to make this vision a reality.”

The construction group delivering the project is deploying advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, BIM modelling and BIM construction techniques, across the entire design and construction process. In its role as project manager, Turner & Townsend will also oversee and support this approach.

RAK’s Vision 2030

This landmark project is aligned to Ras Al-Khaimah’s Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the emirate into a regional leader in sustainable tourism. Ras Al-Khaimah aims to attract over 3 million visitors per year by 2030.
