Capgemini appoints Matthew Whitson as Managing Director for Middle East

Capgemini, one of the world’s largest consulting and technology groups, has appointed Matthew Whitson as Managing Director for its Middle East business.

A lifelong Capgemini man, Matthew Whitson has been with the firm since the turn of the century, joining as a trainee in the UK and remaining with the organisation throughout his career. He began as a management consultant in the firm’s consulting division (now Capgemini Invent) before moving into the group’s technology, infrastructure, and cloud businesses, where he went on to hold a series of senior leadership roles.

In the UK, Whitson led Capgemini’s Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) industry vertical and its Cloud Infrastructure Services business, before being appointed Chair of the UK Country Board – overseeing one of the company’s largest national operations around the world.

“Over the course of his career, Matthew has built a wealth of experience across a broad range of senior leadership roles. He is a highly collaborative and people-focused leader, with a passion for talent development and a strong commitment to delivering excellence,” Capgemini said in a statement announcing his appointment.

As Managing Director, Whitson is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction and operations across the region. He oversees a team of more than 300 professionals based in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

“Matthew has extensive knowledge of Capgemini’s full range of capabilities and is well positioned to support clients as a leader in AI-enabled business and technology transformation across the Middle East. His appointment will help strengthen Capgemini’s presence in the region, leveraging our broad portfolio of industry assets, expertise, and capabilities across consulting, cloud, data, AI, and digital engineering,” the firm stated.

Commenting on his appointment, Whitson said: “I am honoured to lead our business here in the Middle East. As a global company, I am convinced of the importance of leveraging our group capabilities while operating locally. I also believe we are uniquely positioned to combine deep technology expertise with end-to-end business transformation capabilities to create lasting value for our clients across the Middle East.”
