Deloitte supports Lebanese Food Bank through D-CARES to strengthen community resilience
Deloitte has partnered with the Lebanese Food Bank through its D-CARES programme, donating repurposed laptops to strengthen the organisation’s operational capabilities and support its ongoing efforts to serve vulnerable communities across Lebanon.
D-CARES is a social-impact and sustainability initiative from Deloitte’s Middle East business. D-CARES stands for ‘Deloitte – Committed Action for Resourceful Empowerment and Sustainability’ and focuses on repurposing Deloitte’s used technology, particularly laptops, and donating it to organisations and people who need it. The aim is to improve digital access, inclusion and educational opportunities while also extending the useful life of technology.
The D-CARES initiative also aligns with Zeytoun, Deloitte’s social-impact programme focused on supporting communities affected by conflict, disruption and displacement across the Middle East.
“Creating meaningful societal impact is only possible through collaboration. We are proud to support the Lebanese Food Bank and the important work it carries out every day to serve communities across Lebanon,” said Rana Salhab, Managing Partner and People & Purpose Leader at Deloitte.
Since 2011, the Lebanese Food Bank has played a vital role in addressing food insecurity across Lebanon, working with more than 120 non-profit organisations to support vulnerable communities and promote environmental sustainability.
The handover of the laptops took place at Deloitte’s Beirut office, in the presence of Salhab and Wassim Sinno, President of the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Food Bank.
“The strength of our work lies in the partnerships we build. Support that enhances our operational capabilities enables us to continue reaching vulnerable communities more effectively, and we are grateful to Deloitte for standing alongside us in support of our mission,” said Sinno. “Together, we can create a stronger and more sustainable impact for the communities we serve.”
Previously, through its D-CARES initiative, Deloitte also provided repurposed laptops to displaced Gaza families who had been evacuated to Egypt, as well as laptops to non-profit organisations in Jordan. Deloitte’s wider Zeytoun programme operates across six pillars: humanitarian support, careers upskilling, D-CARES, specialised counselling, internships and She-4-She.
