MMJS Consulting has appointed Basel Abughazaleh as a partner in its Tax practice, strengthening the firm’s senior tax leadership and advisory capabilities across the UAE and wider GCC region.
Abughazaleh brings more than 22 years of experience across corporate and international taxation, Pillar Two and Global Minimum Tax, M&A tax advisory and business tax partnering. His career spans Deloitte, PwC, and HSBC, giving him a strong understanding of tax matters from both an advisory and in-house perspective, as well as a clear understanding of the commercial priorities of multinational organizations.
Prior to joining MMJS Consulting, Abughazaleh spent more than a dozen years at HSBC as Regional Senior International Tax Expert and Business Tax Partner for the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye. In this role, he led corporate and international tax matters, Pillar Two implementation and compliance, M&A tax advisory and tax partnering across multiple business lines.
During his time at PwC, he advised multinational clients across the Levant on corporate tax, international taxation, M&A transactions and complex cross-border matters. He began his professional journey in external audit at Deloitte in Dubai, covering IFRS and external audit matters.
At MMJS Consulting, Abughazaleh will lead and strengthen the firm’s capabilities across Pillar Two and Global Minimum Tax, financial services taxation, international tax, M&A transactions and tax-efficient business structuring. He will also support multinational organisations and financial institutions on corporate tax, VAT implementation, FTA compliance requirements, cross-border transactions, business restructuring and the development of practical, tax-efficient operating models.
Founded in 2017, MMJS Consulting offers expertise in business consulting, tax advisory, and technology consulting. The firm operates with hubs in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan and India.
“The arrival of Basel reflects our continued focus on investing in senior leadership and expanding our ability to deliver technically robust and commercially relevant tax solutions across the GCC,” said MMJS Consulting in a statement.
