EY teams with World Energy Council for Abu Dhabi world congress
Big Four professional services firm Ernst & Young has come on board as a platinum sponsor for this year’s World Energy Congress to be held in Abu Dhabi in September.
Set for the 9th to 12th of September in Abu Dhabi, the World Energy Congress is the World Energy Council’s flagship event and will this year bring together over 10,000 attendees including 500 industry CEOs, 70 government ministers, and 250 speakers from around the globe to discuss topics around innovation, strategy and the future of the energy industry. Professional service firm EY has now been announced as a platinum sponsor for the event.
“We are extremely delighted to have EY on board for the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi,” said Al Neyadi, Chairman of the UAE Organising Committee. “EY has established itself as a thought-leader in the energy market due to their large and knowledgeable team of professionals across the globe, who have extensive experience in the industry. Their presence at the Congress will be significant and an excellent opportunity for thousands of delegates to gain an understanding of how they can deal with future challenges.”
A long-standing supporter of the World Energy Council – having in 2012 joined a select group of leading organisations which provide assistance for the council in achieving its mission to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy – Ernst & Young will for the congress offer thought leadership around industry challenges and innovation, in areas such as anticipating future market trends, identifying opportunities, and showcasing the latest in technology.
“The spirit of this collaboration is to promote innovation in the context of the energy transition, leveraging EY professionals’ deep industry and business knowledge and the Council’s extensive global network and neutral positioning for thought leadership,” said Christoph Frei, Secretary General & CEO of the World Energy Council.” Held every three years, the upcoming congress will be the first hosted in the Middle East (exc. Turkey) since its inception in London in 1924.
EY senior sector leaders – including Benoit Laclau, EY’s Global Energy Leader, Andy Brogan, Global Oil & Gas Leader, and Serge Colle, Global Power and Utilities Advisory Leader – will participate in a number of sessions during this year’s event, such as “Driving innovation: the role of governments in the future of energy,” while the firm will also establish an exhibition pavilion where its subject matter experts will host live talks and showcase solutions.
“EY is delighted to sponsor the 24th World Energy Congress and collaborate with the Council to promote and support innovation,” said Laclau. “The energy system of the future will be vastly different from that of today, so it is imperative that the energy industry embraces innovation and explores new technologies. We look forward to sharing EY insights and solutions, so energy companies and governments around the world can benefit.”
