Roland Berger bolsters Energy practice with three experts
Roland Berger has strengthened its Energy practice in the Middle East with the hiring of three new members: Pierre Samaties, Chris Petrov and Roshan Harish.
The European-origin global strategic consultancy works across several sectors in the Middle East, with its Energy practice focused on topics including energy strategy and transition, decarbonisation, renewable energy, and clean hydrogen. “Our team support the region’s energy ecosystem, as well as promote and drive inventive initiatives – from a strategic, digital and operational point of view,” said Vatche Kourkejian, Head of Roland Berger’s Middle East Energy practice.
Welcoming the trio of experts to the consultancy, Kourkejian said: “We are thrilled that Pierre, Chris and Roshan have joined our team. Their skillsets and long experience in the regional energy sector will allow us to continue serving our clients in the Middle East with their major transformations expected in the coming years.”
Appointed a Senior Advisor, Pierre Samaties brings over 15 years of experience in the energy industry to the firm, specialising in strategic, (digital) transformation and operational topics. Prior to joining Roland Berger, he managed the strategy development and transformation program for Abu Dhabi’s transmission & distribution sector at AD Power and TAQA in the UAE.
Previously, Samaties was the Managing Partner and CEO of RWE’s and innogy’s Management Consulting and venture investment business in the Middle East, advising regional clients on strategic and operational matters as well as innovation implementation in the new converging energy value chain.
Earlier in his career, he was a Partner at RWE Consulting, responsible for the development of the management consulting business with international energy trading clients.
Chris Petrov and Roshan Harish meanwhile have both been appointed a Project Manager. Petrov has been working on energy markets and regulation topics since 2009. He also transfers from AD Power and TAQA, where he focused on demand side management, energy efficiency and regulatory matters. Earlier in his career, he spent several years at RWE’s and innogy’s Consulting practice in Dubai.
Harish has more than 10 years’ experience in delivering strategic projects and complex transformation programs in the Middle East’s utilities and renewable energy industry under his belt. Before joining Roland Berger, he worked for AD Power and TAQA focused on business development programs, and previously, he served innogy Consulting, Boston Consulting Group and Accenture.
According to a recent study from Roland Berger’s regional Energy team, Qatar’s energy system is poised for a “major transformation” as the country makes the shift to renewable energy.
