Al Tamimi & Co once again named Middle East's top tax firm

Al Tamimi & Co, a full-service law firm with 16 offices across the Middle East, has yet again been named the region’s top tax firm by a prestigious industry forum. 

Founded in 1989 in the United Arab Emirates, Al Tamimi & Co has over the past thirty-two years grown into one of the largest homegrown law firms, with over 850 people working across offices in nine countries.

The professional services firm advises its clients on the full spectrum of legal services, including tax. Years ago, Al Tamimi & Co was according to its own records the first major Middle East law firm to establish a dedicated international tax practice, providing (cross border) tax advice to clients including multinationals, financial services institutions, governments, sovereign wealth funds, and private equity groups.

At the EMEA Tax Awards, organised for the 16th time by International Tax Review, Al Tamimi & Co was – for the second consecutive year – named the ‘Middle East Tax Firm of the Year’, this year staying ahead of consulting giants Deloitte, KPMG and PwC, law firm counterpart DLA Piper, and regional professional services groups MMJS Consulting and WTS Dhruva Consultants. 

Commenting on the triumph, Khan said: “It is a great achievement to have won this highly prestigious award and be recognised as the leading tax practice in the Middle East. I am very proud of my team who thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

The prize comes on the back of another major recent recognition for Al Tamimi & Co’s Tax practice – being ranked in Band 1 in the first the first ever ranking by Chambers for tax practices at laws firms in the Middle East. 

Meanwhile, in the Transfer Pricing category of the EMEA Tax Awards 2021, Deloitte was named the Middle East’s top services provider.
