Akhom Consulting, a boutique hospitality consultancy firm, has named Mohamed Khedr the new managing partner of its Middle East operation.
Founded in 2015 in the US, Akhom Consulting is a management consulting firm that specialises in helping travel & tourism organisations with beefing up their sales and marketing performance and their commercial operations. In 2017, the firm expanded into the United Arab Emirates to launch its second operation.
Leading the Dubai office is now Mohamed Khedr, an Egyptian national who brings over fifteen years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry to the firm. Khedr joined the industry in 2007, spending two years with The Oberoi Group and Intercontinental, before relocating to Dubai to progress his career.
Initially serving as a sales executive at Jumeirah Group, he rose the ranks to become a director of sales for one of the company’s clusters, after which he spent the past nearly three years at hotel group Accor as a key account director. Staying in the emirate, Khedr will now leverage this experience to advise clients on how they can professionalise their commercial performance at a time of major disruption and financial collapse for the industry.
According to recent research from IBISWorld, the size of the global tourism sector fell from $1.9 trillion in 2019 to $1.1 trillion in pandemic-hit 2020. Against this backdrop, travel & tourism organisations – including those in the Middle East – face an urgent need to re-assess and re-optimise their strategy and operations. Meanwhile, the industry is seeing tech-led disruption across several joints of its business and target operating model.
Alongside serving clients navigate these developments, Khedr will spearhead Akhom Consulting’s ambitions in the region, and lead its internal team.

The news comes shortly after Akhom Consulting was named one of Dubai’s leading consultancies to the travel & tourism sector in the UAE Business Awards 2021 competition.
