Faithful+Gould named project consultant of Masdar City Square
Masdar City has selected Faithful+Gould as its project management consultant for Masdar City Square, one of the most highly anticipated new developments in Abu Dhabi.
Launched in 2010, Masdar City is a research & development cluster in Abu Dhabi focused on renewable energy, technology, healthcare and mobility. The City is home to over 1,000 companies, including the likes of the UAE Space Agency, Siemens, Tabreed, Honeywell, and G42 Healthcare.
The new Masdar City Square development covers an area of 29,000 square meter and gross floor area of 50,000 square meter, providing Masdar City with an extended area for business and urban living. Work on the development has begun in June and the project is scheduled for completion in 2024.
Masdar City Square will be located adjacent to Masdar City’s existing development centered around the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence and the Middle East headquarters of Siemens.
The development includes seven single- and multi-tenant office buildings, courtyards, a daycare, an amphitheater plaza, shaded pedestrian boulevards, a fitness center, a meditation room, and more.
As part of the delivery phase, Faithful+Gould – a project and programme management consultancy – has been named the lead project management consultant. Faithful+Gould will manage project delivery and lead all aspects of the project, covering quality assurance, quality control and environment, health and safety, managing design, construction activity and project close-out, including the evaluation and selection of other consultants.
Andrew Rotteveel, a managing director at Atkins (the parent of Faithful+Gould), said: “Through our engineering capabilities and project management expertise, underpinned by digital solutions, we will ensure that the Masdar City Square project is delivered to the highest quality and sustainability standards.”
Meanwhile, Woods Bagot has been named the lead architect for Masdar City Square. The Australian-origin firm previously designed the IRENA Headquarters in Masdar City.
Speaking about the project, Ahmed Baghoum, Acting Executive Director at Masdar City, said: “We look forward to seeing how Masdar City Square enriches Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, and the United Arab Emirates.”
