KPMG promotes six to partner in its Lower Gulf business

KPMG has appointed six new partners in the Lower Gulf, across its Advisory, Tax, and Audit practices.

Commenting on the appointments, Nader Haffar, Chairman and CEO at KPMG Lower Gulf said: “We are incredibly proud to promote our new partners from all service lines, bringing with them diverse and rich knowledge to our partnership. We congratulate them on their achievement, and we wish them continued success as they join the leadership team.”

Established in 1973, KPMG in the Lower Gulf comprises the firm’s member firms in the UAE and Oman. The firm has 1,900 employees, including about 200+ partners and directors.

Mohammad Zamani, Keith Donegan, Suryanka Jatain, Gunjan Shroff, Harris Matin, Heinrich Kleine

Mohammad Zamani has become the first Emirati partner for KPMG in its Audit business. He joined the firm as a fresh graduate in 2011, and has since then built extensive audit experience, acquired over the span of his career in the UAE and the UK. Zamani specialises in the audit of financial services institutions, specifically banking, including the audit of the largest bank in the UAE.

In 2013, Zamani was the first Emirati to locally qualify as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) Emiratization Scholarship Scheme, sponsored by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. He currently heads the Emiratization program at KPMG in the Lower Gulf.

Keith Donegan is a partner in KPMG’s Tax division. An Indirect Tax professional with over 17 years of experience within the Big four firms across Europe, Australia, and the UAE, Donegan has been leading the UAE VAT practice since October 2021, working with the Tax partners to develop a compliance and advisory practice.

Donegan is a trusted adviser to several high-profile UAE and international clients with activities in the region.

Suryanka Jatain, a digital strategist and expert in developing strategic vision and corporate digital transformation, is a partner in the Advisory practice.

Jatain joined KPMG in the Lower Gulf in 2017 with an extensive track record in business development, digital strategy, and journey-to-roadmap implementation across various household names and multinational companies. She previously worked for Deloitte, a major system integrator and with founders and core teams of start-ups, among others.

Gunjan Shroff is a partner in the Advisory practice. She joined KPMG’s People & Change team in 2015, focusing on organisation, workforce, and talent transformations. She has particular interest in operating model design and restructuring, with 15 years of experience in human capital consulting in public and private sectors across the UAE, Singapore, and India.

Shroff has led large scale transformation engagements across public sector, family businesses, holding, investment and diversified companies in areas of operating model design, organization restructuring, workforce shaping, talent & leadership development, HR strategy transformation and culture design.

Harris Matin bring over ten years of experience in governance, risk, internal audit, finance transformation, and compliance to KPMG’s partner team in Muscat, Oman. In his role, Matin leads the Advisory practice and consulting capabilities to clients in the Oman market.

Most recently, Matin specialised in engagements focused on the provision of outsourced internal audit, corporate governance, business resilience, finance transformation, and business process improvement. His professional footprint has spanned Canada, the UAE and Oman, with a focus on the energy & natural resources industry.

Bringing over 15 years of experience in consulting, Heinrich Kleine has been promoted to partner in the Global & EMA Alliances wing. As the Global Alliances Performance & Portfolio Lead, Kleine oversees a team of alliance directors managing KPMG’s global relationships with technology partners and other ecosystem partners, as well as heading up the firm’s EMA Regional Alliances Sales team.

Kleine has been with KPMG since 2007 and worked for the firm in Germany, the UK and Hong Kong. He brings extensive international experience with alliance management, including alliance partner selection, C-level negotiations, onboarding, development of alliance-based offerings and solutions, and day-to-day operations and management.
