In the role, Mauricio Zuazua leads Kearney’s strategic direction and services in the Middle East and Africa region, overseeing teams across offices in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, Riyadh, and Johannesburg.

With a background in engineering, Zuazua has always enjoyed solving complex problems. At Kearney, he has been doing just that, working with leaders across the Americas, Asia, Middle East and Africa on topics including policy, strategy, design, and the execution of major transformation programs.

His expertise extends industries, including the automotive space, aerospace and defense, industrial goods and services, infrastructure, and other private sectors.

In the public sector, Zuazua has supported leaders on national transformation programs to enhance competitiveness, innovation, industrial diversification, and national capability development. “I love figuring out how the combination of people, institutions, and innovation develops national agendas and economies.”

Passionate about how technology can accelerate economic development, Zuazua has extensive experience in how organizations can leverage digital disruptions and succeed in the 4th industrial revolution.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Kearney said Zuazua was the right person to drive forwards its growth agenda in the region. “Mauricio’s commitment to problem-solving and effective leadership has made a substantial impact on clients and colleagues alike. As he transitions into this new role, he will undoubtedly continue to drive positive change.”

“It is such a privilege and honor to take on the responsibility as Region Chair for Middle East and Africa,” said Zuazua. “I couldn't be prouder of this brilliant group of people devoted to accelerating the socio-economic progress of our beloved region and its business communities. Beyond that, I’m absolutely thrilled about what we can do now, hand-in-hand with our clients, with new ideas, new tools, essential rightness, and our truly original ways of helping them create what’s next.”

Kearney was founded in 1926 as a sort of spin-off from McKinsey & Company in the United States. The firm ranks as one of the leading consultancies in the Middle East for strategy and operations, and is regarded as one of the region’s top employers.
