High-flying professionals in the UAE seeking a fast-track career full of growth and development opportunities should look no further than the world of strategy consulting, at least that is according to analysis by LinkedIn.

Now in its fourth edition, LinkedIn’s annual ‘Top Companies to Work For’ list showcases the employers that, on the back of its own data, belong to the crème de la crème when it comes to nurturing careers.

Alongside career growth metrics such as the ability to advance levels and skills growth, six other factors were monitored, including company stability, the culture at companies, and the degree of diversity & inclusion across staff.

Strategy Consulting reigns in UAE's top employers ranking

Having assessed the data of all companies active in the UAE with >500 employees in the seven emirates (and active on LinkedIn obviously), the researchers released a top 15 ranking. For professionals seeking inspiration for their next career move, the route suggested for an illustrious career is not very complicated.

The runaway sector to find a top employer is in strategy consulting, said LinkedIn, with 5 of the top 15 spots held by Bain & Company, Kearney, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, and Oliver Wyman (which is represented by its parent Marsh McLennan in the list).

US-headquartered Bain & Company in fact ranked at the very top of the list, displacing last year’s winner Procter & Gamble. Tom De Waele, Managing Partner of the Middle East business, said the firm is delighted with the recognition.

“Being recognized as the top company on LinkedIn’s prestigious list is a clear reflection of our deep commitment to our people and our culture. We believe in nurturing our talent and providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive and grow in the workplace. This honor from LinkedIn is not just an accolade – it’s a reminder of what we can achieve together as a team.”

The award adds to a long list of top employer accolades for Bain & Company. Earlier this year, the strategic consultancy also was named the Best Place to Work in the world by Glassdoor.

Kearney (#4), Boston Consulting Group (#6), and McKinsey & Company (#9) all maintained their top ranking in the UAE, with Oliver Wyman (together with sisters Mercer and Marsh) a new entrant in the top 15 list.

Meanwhile, two of the other top 15 employers, Mastercard and Visa, also have relatively large consulting arms. Both Mastercard Data & Services and Visa Consulting & Analytics focus on the bourgeoning world of payments.

For professionals that feel strategy consulting is not their cup of tea, LinkedIn offers a clear plan B: find yourself a multinational. Those featured in the list are: Procter & Gamble, Emirates, Majid Al Futtaim, DP World, Miral, ADNOC Group, Schneider Electric, and HSBC.

About the LinkedIn ranking
For a detailed analysis of how LinkedIn came to its ranking, explore the full methodology on the social network platform. Two considerations that deserve attention: government agencies in the UAE were excluded, and only private sector companies with over 500 staff in the UAE were included, meaning that a fairly large amount of well-known consultancies in the UAE were not eligible for entry.
