KSA working with strategy consultants on Advanced Air Mobility blueprint

The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation is partnering with strategy consultants to create its National Advanced Air Mobility blueprint and roadmap for the country.

The initiative aims to develop a visionary ecosystem for advanced air mobility, with the aim to enhance mobility, logistics, environmental sustainability, living standards, and economic growth in Saudi Arabia.

Kearney has been supporting the overall strategy process, making market assessments, and looking into key opportunities for KSA, including spill-over benefits to other sectors. The global consultancy is working in collaboration with Nexa Advisors, a boutique strategic and financial advisory firm, and NUAIR, an aviation-focused non-profit.

Advanced air mobility refers to the use of innovative, often electric-powered aircraft to transport people and goods in new, efficient ways, especially in urban areas. It aims to create faster, more sustainable transportation options, including air taxis and cargo drones, to improve mobility and logistics.

Some other examples of advanced air mobility use cases include things like sustainable unmanned aerial systems and new types of vertical take-off and landing aircrafts. These can be used for inter- or intra-city air transportation, cargo delivery, public services, and private recreational purposes.

The KSA General Authority of Civil Aviation, the federal body that oversees all aviation-related activities in the Kingdom, also earlier this year inked a deal with German electric aerial vehicle manufacturer Lilium. The memorandum of understanding signed by both parties aims to work on regulatory framework related with vertical take-off and landing aircrafts.
