Tara Makarem and Gabriella Borgovan join leadership team of Roland Berger
Roland Berger has bolstered its leadership team – and top-level diversity – with the hires of Tara Makarem and Gabriella Borgovan, appointed as Partner and Principal respectively.
Tara Makarem brings a dozen years of consulting experience in the healthcare industry to the strategy consulting firm, with a focus on the public sector. She specialises in services including strategy design, initiative detailing, care pathway design, capacity and workforce planning, benefits analysis, transformation management, and impact assessment.
Makarem’s work extends to adjacent areas such as business case development, population health management, and aligning care transformation to key enablers, particularly corporatization and accountable care organization development.
“I am thrilled to join Roland Berger’s dynamic team and further contribute to the transformative healthcare initiatives in the region,” said Makarem. “I look forward to leveraging my experience and global network to drive impactful change and improve healthcare outcomes.”
Makarem previously served a Big Four firm, where she gained experience across the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. During her career, she also developed a global network of organizations across Europe, North America, and New Zealand.
Gabriella Borgovan meanwhile is a homegrown Roland Berger consultant – she started her career at Roland Berger in Romania and has been with the firm 13 years since. Specializing in operational excellence, corporate efficiency and performance improvement topics, mainly in the context of large transformations and post-merger integrations, Borgovan has worked for clients in Europe, Asia, and Central America.
Having relocated from Europe to Dubai, Borgovan will advise clients in the Middle East, and serve as co-lead of Roland Berger’s Operations, Performance Improvement and Transformation practices in the region.
“I am excited to bring my expertise to the Middle East,” she said. “Working at Roland Berger in the Middle East presents an incredible opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and help clients achieve excellence.”
Hani Tohme, Managing Partner of Roland Berger in the Middle East, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Tara and Gabriella to our team. Their extensive experience and proven track records will significantly enhance our capabilities in healthcare and operations, two crucial topics in the current Middle Eastern landscape.”
“Furthermore, our firm is dedicated to strengthening female leadership as we strive to deliver diverse, innovative, and effective solutions to our clients. The addition of Tara and Gabriella underscores our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive leadership team,” added Santiago Castillo, Managing Partner of Roland Berger in the Middle East.
