British supply chain consultancy SCALA expands into Turkey
UK-headquartered supply chain consultancy SCALA has expanded its footprint to include Turkey, appointing Eyüp Soner as its country lead.
Founded in 2001, SCALA specialises in supply chain and logistics consulting services, working with mid-market and international companies. The firm’s latest internationalisation move expands its presence to over 15 counties worldwide, including numerous European countries, the United States, China and Australia.
Commenting on the expansion, Phil Reuben, executive director at SCALA, said: “We continually strive to enhance our client offering, and expanding SCALA has enabled us to offer geographically tailored expertise on a wider range of issues. This move further strengthens our ability to provide high-quality consultancy across various aspects of international logistics.”
In Turkey, SCALA will support European companies with their operations in Turkey, advise Turkish-owned companies on their logistics, and aid companies looking to move into the Turkish third-party logistics (3PL) market via market entry or acquisition.
To launch the venture, Turkey leader Soner has developed a review of the Turkish market, with a particular focus on logistics service providers in the strategic supply chain territory. The report evaluates the extensive acquisition and partnership opportunities available in the region for European and UK-based businesses, and sheds light on best practices for working in the Turkish market.
“Operating in Turkey can be strategically advantageous for businesses for several reasons. For example, the geographical position of Turkey offers a bridge between Asia and Europe, enabling businesses to transport goods and trade through an alternate route to the Northern Corridor. This traditional route is largely reliant on a passage through Russia and as a result, has seen a 40% decline in goods passing through it since the start of the war in Ukraine,” said Soner.
“Turkey also offers skilled, lower-cost labour to UK and European-based companies to facilitate exports. This is particularly ideal for automotive just-in-time operations and fast fashion manufacturers – with the automotive and textile industries currently defining the country’s top two export sectors.”
“Drawing on my decades of experience and knowledge in the territory, I am keen to support SCALA’s clients to make more cost-effective and streamlined logistics decisions through operations in Turkey. As part of the global consulting network that the firm has established, we can support retailers, manufacturers and 3PLs to implement effective and beneficial changes to their operations.”
