The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and Devoteam have announced the winners of their ‘Innovate for Impact’ competition in Saudi Arabia, and initiative aimed at promoting technology and innovation among young professionals.

Launched in June, the competition had three main phases. The first phase was a hackathon, where 1,000 teams consisting of graduates and young professionals worked on various digital challenges with the goal to create digital solutions that contribute to the development of the Ministry’s digital ecosystem and experiences to its stakeholders. The solutions created were reviewed and evaluated by a panel of experts,

Thirty-two teams were then invited for the second phase – a track which enabled them to improve and refine their concept, with training and support received by the ministry and Devoteam.

Five teams were selected for the final round, which took place last week at the Hilton Hotel in Riyadh, under the patronage of Ismail bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Assistant Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Shared Services. A number of senior leaders from Devoteam also were present at the event.

Following a presentation of the solutions to a panel of judges, the top three winning teams were selected. The first-place prize of SAR 50,000, along with a three-month internship and a full-time employment opportunity with Devoteam, was awarded to Lubna bint Ibrahim Al-Ajlan. The second-place prize of SAR 30,000, alongside the same internship and job opportunity, was won by Noura bint Mutlaq Al-Quwaifly.

The third-place prize of SAR 10,000, along with a three-month internship and full-time employment opportunity, was shared by Ghada bint Issa Al-Sulami and Sarah bint Abdulhadi Al-Juhani.

Reflecting on the competition, Devoteam said in a statement that the consulting firm is proud to have contributed to tech-innovation in the nation, which it describes as “a key part of its commitment to developing digital competencies in Saudi Arabia and enhancing digital transformation capabilities in line with the Kingdom’s vision.”

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development meanwhile stated that ‘Innovate for Impact’ is part of its ambition to provide a conducive environment for talent development and bolster the role of national cadres in innovation and entrepreneurship fields.

In the Middle East, Devoteam has over 500 consultants and staff, serving clients from offices in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Turkey. The firm is minority owned by Saudi giant Solutions by STC.
