The Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Elm, aimed at enhancing the AI capabilities of government institutions across the nation.

Signed at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit, an event held in Riyadh under the patronage of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the partnership will see SCAI and Elm cooperate to “enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of government services and operations with AI tech-enablement.”

Established in 2021, SCAI is a PIF-owned company that was founded with the aim to positioning KSA as a global AI leader. The company builds AI applications, including in areas such as smart cities, healthcare, public transport, and sustainability.

Together with Elm, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading IT consulting and technology companies, SCAI will develop AI use cases in the public sector, and develop prototypes and applications using Al technologies. Elm’s consulting business meanwhile will provide strategic advisory services to SCAI and to the Al offices of public sector institutions that are part of SCAI’s network.

The scope of the agreement will span all kinds of AI technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning and generative AI. According to a recent study, such technologies have the potential to add billion’s in economic value added to the KSA economy.

Among the use cases that will be developed include building ChatGPT-like applications using large language models (LLMs), voice and speech recognition solutions, generative Al visual objection detection and identification, and data analytics for prediction and forecasting.

The partnership was one of four collaborations that Elm signed at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit, alongside similar alliances with SITE (a cybersecurity company), Fountech Labs (an innovation lab for deep tech), and Incorta (a provider of open data technology).

In a statement, Elm said that the alliances expand the firm’s scope of digital transformation and innovation services, and are part of its continuous efforts to contribute to the digital transformation programs in the Kingdom in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
