As Fiaz Hussain approaches his two-year anniversary at Argon & Co, we spoke with him about his 25-year career as a transformation consultant, and how his work at Argon & Co is helping him make an impact across the public and private sectors in the Middle East.

You’ve been in the consulting industry for around 25 years. Reflecting on this, what are some of the highs you’re most proud of?

It’s been an incredible journey. Straight out of university, I dove into technology consulting, which was thrilling, especially as the whole tech and internet revolution took off. My work has taken me all over the world, and each project has brought new insights.

After spending the first decade focusing on ERP, I spent the past decade on large-scale business transformation, with a focus on operations, process management and supply chain. Having spent time at a Big Four firm and a boutique advisory firm, I’m now delighted to be at Argon & Co – which brings the best of both worlds.

Some highlights would be the successful transformation programs I’ve led in the UK and across the Middle East – seeing tangible results and knowing I made a difference to my clients’ operations and strategies.

What kinds of projects have you worked on since joining Argon & Co two years ago?

One notable project was an operational excellence improvement for a major real estate and construction company in Saudi Arabia. The scope was challenging but exciting, especially considering the level of transformation happening across the Kingdom. It’s projects like these that allow me to apply a holistic approach, focusing on systemic changes rather than just isolated issues.

Argon & Co focuses on strategic operations and supply chain. What do you enjoy most about these fields?

I’m driven by the challenge of solving complex, interconnected problems rather than just addressing them in isolation. Strategic thinking and macro market analysis are truly exciting for me – analyzing big-picture issues and finding ways to streamline processes across the board. That is exactly what international supply chain is about.

Meanwhile, delivering tangible results for our clients is what keeps our clock ticking. I therefore enjoy implementing strategies that transform an organization’s operations, which form the backbone of an organizations’ success.

Having worked at several consultancies, how does Argon & Co stand out in your view, both in terms of client impact and company culture?

Argon & Co has a unique character that stems from its size and culture. Being a smaller, more agile firm in the Middle East allows for a very close-knit environment, and the global team is incredibly supportive. You can reach out to anyone across the company, and they’re ready to help at a moment’s notice. That kind of intimacy and collaboration makes a difference in delivering impactful solutions to clients and adds a personal touch to our work.

At the same time, Argon & Co is a global player with offices in 15+ countries, with deep expertise in strategic operations, supply chain, procurement, and digital. The firm’s global network and experience enables us to bring together a wide range of international best practices to make a real impact at our clients.

Argon & Co is expanding in the Middle East. What kind of working environment does it offer to both young and senior talent?

We foster a friendly, collaborative environment where coaching and mentoring are integral to our work. Due to our size, team members take on various roles – everything from sales to project delivery. This diversity in roles allows everyone, especially the younger talent, to polish a broad range of consulting skills, making them more adaptable and resourceful.

Working in Saudi Arabia is seen as hugely exciting, given the transformation happening there. How do you reflect on this, having worked in multiple countries?

The energy in Saudi Arabia right now is unique. The country is at a pivotal moment of exponential growth, and it’s inspiring to be part of it. Having worked across Europe, the UK, and the GCC, I feel incredibly honored to contribute to this era of transformation in the Kingdom. There’s a shared sense of purpose here, it’s a time of both challenge and tremendous opportunity.
