Astro Armadillos, a Web3 game developed by Agile Dynamics, has been named the Best GameFi Project of 2025 at the Middle East Blockchain Awards.

The annual Middle East Blockchain Awards awards, which took place at the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, recognized leading achievements in the world of blockchain, Web3, and crypto across the region.

According to the jury, composed of blockchain and Web3 leaders from the Dubai Blockchain Centre, Crypto Oasis, and several global organizations, Astro Armadillos has set a new benchmark in how blockchain technology can be used for learning experiences, earning it the title ‘Best GameFi Project’ of the year.

GameFi stands for Game Finance, which is a concept that combines gaming with decentralized finance and blockchain technology.

Launched late 2024, Astro Armadillos is a Web3 education platform that introduces the concept of gamification and narrative-driven learning – all on the back of innovative blockchain technology – into the world of education. By playing the game, users learn about the fundamentals of blockchain.

Players gain hands-on knowledge of blockchain fundamentals, decentralized finance, NFTs, and smart contracts as they progress through challenges and races within the flagship ‘Stargating’ game. The game universe itself spans multiple chains, including Ethereum, Polkadot, and Binance Smart Chain, giving participants direct exposure to the leading protocols shaping the industry.

The Web3 Glossary e-book, now featuring over 1,000 terms, provides a reference for users at any stage of their blockchain journey. Meanwhile, the Astro Armadillos Academy offers practical online courses that guide learners from the basics to advanced, innovative contract development.

The Astro Armadillos learning ecosystem further consist of a podcast, events and a community – all geared at fostering a lively ecosystem for blockchain education and networking. “And we have plans underway to launch a fully accredited postgraduate Web3 program,” said Paul Lalovich, founder of Astro Armadillos.

The jury verdict

As per the jury report, “what sets Astro Armadillos apart from its peers is its fusion of educational content and interactive gameplay, addressing one of the sector’s key challenges: how to onboard and upskill the next generation of blockchain users in a way that is both engaging and practical. Unlike many play-to-earn titles that focus solely on entertainment or speculation, Astro Armadillos places learning at the heart of the user experience.”

The jury also lauded the intelligent link between the Astro Armadillos game and the $ASTRO token, which funds in-game rewards but also unlocks exclusive NFT collectibles, participation in tournaments, community events, and staking opportunities.

“The project’s tokenomics, including regular buybacks and burns funded by platform profits, are industry-leading examples of a sustainable model that incentivizes long-term engagement and supports value for participants,” stated the jury.

Reflecting on the recognition, Lalovich said: “Our mission is to make Web3 accessible and rewarding for everyone. This award validates our vision and the dedication of our entire community. We believe that by combining education with immersive gameplay, we can empower a new wave of blockchain pioneers – not just in the Middle East, but around the world.”
