Institute of Chartered Accountants of India delegation visits KPMG in Qatar
In the run-up to CA Day 2025, a major annual event for accountants in Doha, a high-level delegation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India visited KPMG’s office in Doha to celebrate their longstanding connections and joint mission to advance the profession.
Held in Le Royal Méridien in Doha, Chartered Accountants Day 2025 was hosted by the Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, with the goal to share knowledge and best practices, celebrate excellence in Qatar’s local accounting landscape, and build connections between Chartered Accountants.
While in Doha for CA Day 2025, the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) of India – with nearly 500,000 members the largest ICAI in the world – paid a visit to KPMG’s office. The Indian delegation was spearheaded by the President of ICAI, Charanjot Singh Nanda, along with the Vice President, Prasanna Kumar, and the Chairman of the Corporate Laws & Corporate Governance Committee, Babu Abraham.
The ICAI delegation engaged with leaders and trainees from KPMG, recognizing the significant role they play in shaping Qatar’s professional landscape. With 21 qualified Chartered Accountants and 5 articled trainees, Qatar is one of the largest employers of Indian Chartered Accountants in the country.
In a keynote, ICAI President Nanda highlighted the vital role Chartered Accountants play in driving India’s progress and supporting financial and reporting standards globally. He described Indian Chartered Accountants as the “financial soldiers of the Republic of India” and reflected on ICAI’s recent success in hosting the World Congress of Accountants, a landmark event held on a global scale.
“This visit was a moment of pride for all of us at KPMG,” said Gopal Balasubramaniam, Partner and Head of Audit at KPMG in Qatar. “It reflects our shared commitment to excellence, ethics, and cross-border collaboration. We deeply value our strong ties with ICAI and the outstanding contributions of our Indian Chartered Accountants.”
