The Corporate Restructuring Summit is set to return to Dubai next month, with consultancies Roland Berger, Deloitte and Kroll among the event partners.

Regional financial intelligence platform Middle East Global Advisors’ Corporate Restructuring Summit will return to Dubai over the 11th and 12th of September after a successful inaugural year. Held in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the debt restructuring and NPL-focused (non-performing loan) conference will feature among its 50-plus speakers leading consultants from event sponsors Roland Berger, Deloitte, and Kroll.

With over 300 professionals drawn from the Middle East and North African’ banking, corporate, legal-advisory, and debt restructuring segments among others expected to attend, the 2nd annual summit this year carries the theme “Emergence of New Alliances: Managing Debt & Non-Performing Loans”, and will aim to provoke “actionable debate, impactful change and high-level outcomes” through a series of meetings, networking and guest presentations.

Among the speakers for the event are local Roland Berger managing partner Rene Seyger; David Stark, partner and head of Restructuring Services at Deloitte Middle East; and Kroll managing director Amine Antari, who serves in the firm’s Business Intelligence and Investigations practice and heads up its Dubai office. In addition, the three consultancies feature as partners for this year’s event, Roland Berger as a silver sponsor and Deloitte and Kroll at the associate level.

Rene Seyger

Taking over Roland Berger’s regional helm last year, Seyger has altogether three decades of management consulting experience under his belt, kicking off his career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1989 before and long stint with Arthur D. Little and later co-founding Roland Berger’s Dutch branch in 2002. A specialist in strategy and restructuring, Seyger holds particular expertise in the automotive, transport and healthcare sectors.

David Stark

Having crossed from the UK to Dubai in 2011 to lead the firm’s regional restructuring practice (following a stint in the emirate to oversee the restructuring of Nakheel), Stark has been with Deloitte for over 26 years – joining its London office in 1993. He has amassed significant experience since, specialising in the review of business and financing strategies for family offices and sovereign wealth funds and their asset portfolios.

“In today’s challenging markets, adapting to the constantly changing regulatory and business environment is critical to ensure business continuity and sustainability,” commented Stark. “Corporates who are brave enough to proactively address underperformance early on have a higher likelihood of a successful turnaround.”

Amine Antari

Crossing to Kroll from engineering firm SNC-Lavalin in 2017 (where he served as Head of Compliance Investigations), Antari earlier in his career spent close to six years with PwC in Canada, before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2013. At Kroll – a division of Duff & Phelps – Antari now heads up the advisory’s Dubai office, and brings specialist expertise in investigations and strong knowledge of international regulatory requirements.

“In today’s complex and increasingly volatile marketplace, companies need a stable and conducive environment to grow their businesses,” said Steve Barnett, Executive Director, Business Development, at Abu Dhabi Global Market. “We look forward to meeting the banks, corporates, funds and restructuring specialists to discuss and exchange insights of current challenges of restructuring and strategic reorganisation of finance and debt-related matters.”
