Baker Tilly appoints Chakib Zaari as Regional Chair for Middle East & Africa

Chakib Zaari, the founder and chief of Baker Tilly in Morocco, has been named the company’s Regional Chair for Middle East & Africa.
In his new role, Casablanca-based Chakib Zaari will oversee Baker Tilly’s operations in the region, spanning a footprint in over 30 countries. “I am honoured to take up this Regional Chair role at such an important time for our region and the Baker Tilly network. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the world for the benefit of our clients and people in the region.”
Zaari brings a successful track record in professional services to his new role. In 2011, he founded Majer Consulting, which under his leadership grew into one of Morocco’s leading independent consulting firms. In 2020, Majer Consulting became a member of Baker Tilly, a global accounting and consulting network with over 43,000 staff in 141 countries, after which the local firm rebranded as Baker Tilly Majer.
Over the past four years, Zaari led Baker Tilly Majer through another chapter of growth, both organically and through the 2021 acquisition of Burj Finance. This growth has seen the firm expand into several new areas of business, such as investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, corporate social responsibility, and digital transformation.
“The Middle East & Africa is an important region for the future growth of the Baker Tilly,” said Francesca Lagerberg, CEO of Baker Tilly International. “This fast-growing market needs a dynamic Regional Chair who can take us to the next stage of delivering our strategy locally. I am confident that Chakib is the right person to take on this leadership and wish him all the very best in his new role.”
The appointment will see Chakib join the Baker Tilly International Board. In the region, he will work closely with Gagik Gyulbudaghyan (Regional Director for Middle East & Africa) and country leaders to drive international business growth and develop the network’s services and capabilities.
