Consulum has announced the appointment of Simon Cunningham as Senior Adviser to its Riyadh office.
The executive, board member and adviser brings more than 35 years of international experience spanning government, strategic communications, consumer businesses, real estate and corporate leadership to Consulum a government advisory business with around 160 professionals in the Gulf region.
He spent the past seven years working at the Centre of Government in Saudi Arabia as an adviser to H.E. Fahad Toonsi at the Strategic Management Office. During this period, he led communications for Saudi Arabia’s G20 Presidency, built and led Vision 2030 communications, and advised on strategic communications, organisational transformation and major initiatives. Cunningham was awarded the Order of King Abdulaziz for his contribution to the G20 Presidency.
Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Coca-Cola, Allied Domecq, Umbro, Nike, BAT and Barratt Developments.
Commenting on his appointment, Cunningham said: “I’m delighted to join Consulum at a time when Saudi Arabia’s transformation is more important than ever. Having worked alongside Saudi talent driving real change at pace and scale, I’ve seen first-hand the value Consulum delivers – not only in achieving client outcomes, but also in prioritising client empowerment and training. I look forward to supporting the firm’s growth and delivering meaningful impact for our clients.”
In his role, he will provide senior counsel to Consulum’s leaders and clients on topics including strategic communications, reputation, stakeholder engagement, business transformation and leadership.
“Simon brings a rare combination of experience across the centre of government, corporates and fast-moving consumer goods – coupled with deep on-the-ground delivery in Saudi Arabia,” said James Davies, CEO of Consulum.
